The Sky is low / Emily Dickinson

The Sky is low –
the Clouds are mean.
A Travelling Flake
of Snow
Across a Barn
or through a Rut
Debates if it will go –

A Narrow Wind
complains all Day
How some one treated
him
Nature, like Us
is sometimes caught
Without her
Diadem –

  1. While comparing online versions of this poem, I found a site called Early Women Masters," which contains it in a series called "Emily Dickinson's Nature Mysticism". Two versions of the poem are printed: one formatted as standard common measure, as in most versions of Dickinson; and the second, formatted as above, and entitled, "an original manuscript version
without editing or imposed lineation". I used the second, as it shows an experimental side to Dickinson's 'lineation' that is new to me and, I hope, something new I can bring to the reader.
