September / H. Cordelia Ray

September

With what a gentle sound
The autumn leaves drop to the ground;
With many-colored dyes,
They greet our watching eyes.
Rosy and russet, how they fall!
Throwing o'er earth a leafy pall.

    Poet's love words George Dance. "pall: a cloth spread over a coffin, hearse, or tomb." Suitable, as leaves have met their demise, their life over, leaving in a spectacular dress of colors, as H. Cordelia Ray states "rosy and russet". I have an autumn poem that references 'russet'. 💟💟💟💟💟💟
