July / Annette Wynne

July

July's for Independence Day,
For flags and speeches and for play,
For hiding deep in meadow grass
And watching flying creatures pass,
For sailing boats on little seas,
Where just the smallest summer breeze
Can blow; for picking flowers any day;
July comes for flags and play.

  1. I ventured onto Annette Wynne biography, tapping your link here George. Saw a wonderful well worn book of her poems. Listened to a young boy recite Indian Children, a poem which would be appropriate to read today, currently. Thanks for sharing this children's poet. I have written children's poems, was a children's poet in my community. 💟💟💟💟💟💟
